Museum Ludwig zeigt Schau zur Sexualität ein heikles Thema wagt sich das Museum Ludwig mit der Ausstellung "Das achte Feld". Als erstes großes Museum in Deutschland beschäftigt es sich mit Sexualität abseits des heterosexuellen Mainstreams. In über 250 Werken bietet die Schau einen Überblick darüber, wie Künstler die Themen Trans-, Homo- und Intersexualität, Transgender und Travestie verarbeiten. Zu sehen sind unter anderem sechs Polaroids von Andy Warhol mit dem Titel "Selbstporträt im Fummel" oder eine einfühlsame Fotoserie von Dayanita Singh über Hijras, eine Gruppe von Menschen in Indien ohne eindeutig männliche oder weibliche Geschlechtsidentität. In der Ausstellung werden Kunstwerke von mehr als 80 Künstlerinnen und Künstlern gezeigt, darunter auch David Hockney, Nan Goldin, Robert Rauschenberg oder Katharina Sieverding. Ein Geschlechterwechsel, der ihm zugleich mehr Bewegungsfreiheit und mehr Macht sichert. Und so möchte auch die Ausstellung für einen Wandel plädieren, der die heterosexuell dominierten Geschlechterverhältnisse außer Kraft setzt. "Das achte Feld" gliedert sich in neun Abteilungen zu Themenfeldern wie "Freundschaft", "Orten des Begehrens" und "Sexy Machismo", oder zu "Außenseitern, Diskriminierung und Aids". Die gezeigten Kunstwerke thematisieren die Lust, sich in das andere Geschlecht zu verwandeln und sich zu maskieren. Sie beschäftigen sich aber genauso mit Ausgrenzung, mit Kämpfen um sexuelle Freiheit oder mit dem Leben am Rande der Gesellschaft. Die Werke werden erstmals nicht nur in den Ausstellungsräumen sondern auch im Treppenhaus und anderen Verkehrswegen des Museums gezeigt. Eine Erweiterung, die zugleich den Unterschied zwischen Öffentlichem und Privatem, zwischen Exhibitionismus und Verstecktheit deutlich macht, wie sie auch in der Sexualität eine große Rolle spielt. Auch die Audioführung zur Ausstellung bietet eine Besonderheit: Im Audioguide kann aus 50 Musiktiteln, von der Discomusik der 70er Jahre bis heute, ausgewählt werden, die für die Entwicklung der Subkultur eine große Rolle spielten. Ein umfangreiches Rahmenprogramm aus Vorträgen, Diskussionen und Filmen begleitet die Ausstellung. Zudem hat der Schriftsteller Thomas Meinecke den Erzählband "Feldforschung" zum Thema verfasst, der im Museum mit der Eintrittskarte gratis erhältlich sein wird.
